The Tree Council – Trees Outside Woodland

Trees Outside Woodland are the trees you come across most often; trees in parks, the countryside, carparks, school grounds and those that enhance our food on farms. Indigo were commissioned to create a series of documentary films showcasing pilot projects across the country highlighting new methods of establishing these young trees, with astonishing results: from testing uptake and appetite for more trees on farms to the first comprehensive survey of how the country’s ‘community tree nurseries’ work.

Story-telling

This £4.8m, five year programme is funded by HM Government and was a fascinating, if challenging project for team Indigo. We were allowed to really flex our story-telling muscles, interweaving different narratives from many the contributors, creating a cohesive and compelling story that had to hold an audiences attention in this long-form, documentary format.

The bigger picture

These 3 films are just part of the story. Indigo worked with the Tree Council to create a series of handbooks, animated guides and social media content, all aimed at inspiring others to start their own similar schemes. All this content sits in a newly developed website, designed by the talented folk here at Indigo.

Community Tree Nurseries

In this film, a range of volunteers, staff and communities from Norfolk and Cornwall Community Tree Nurseries share their experiences and the difference they make to their local communities.

Trees on Farms

In this video, you’ll hear from three very different, yet all inspiring, projects in Cornwall, West Sussex and Shropshire.

The films have been really well received. Lots of people saying how beautiful they are. For my first foray into making a film your team made it totally painless! Thank you!
